Dear Academy members,

I remember the 2011 Annual Assembly in Vancouver fondly. The scenery was spectacular and so were the conversations. I had a chance to meet and talk with the first group of international fellows (who came from Vietnam, Nepal, and Africa). Their stories were deep, inspiring, and fascinating to all of us who might have some inkling about, but were unaware of, what palliative care looks like in many middle- and low-income countries. I felt compelled to write about their journeys, and that article became my first to appear in the AAHPM Quarterly.
