Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits*

The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AAHPM designates this other activity (blended credit for real-time and self-paced learning) for up to 85 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

• Preconference workshops March 20, 2024, up to 7.5 credit hours
• In-person conference from March 21-23rd, 2024 up to 15 credit hours
• Live-streamed conference content from March 21-23, 2024 up to 13.5 credit hours
• Up to a max of 85 hours in Virtual On-Demand Conference Recordings
• Access to on-demand conference recordings closes July 1, 2024, at 11:59pm PT.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Points

The 2024 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care is planned in the context of one or more of the ABMS/ACGME Competencies and includes an evaluation designed to assess changes in learners’ competence, performance, or the impact on patient outcomes.

To support MOC reflection opportunities, the 2024 Annual Assembly offers end of day accredited education homerooms in both the in-person and virtual space where learners engage with faculty and colleagues to share key learning points and discuss session reflections. Learners are asked to choose sessions reflective of their top learning priorities and to keep track of at least one key learning point from each of the sessions for reflective learning.

AAHPM has registered the 2024 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care to offer MOC points to the following certifying Boards:

• American Board of Anesthesiology: This activity contributes an anticipated 85 CME credits* to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®.
• American Board of Internal Medicine: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn an anticipated 85 MOC medical knowledge points* in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
• American Board of Pediatrics: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn an anticipated 85 MOC points* in the American Board of Pediatrics' (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
• American Board of Surgery: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn an anticipated 85 credits* toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.

Use of Learner Data: It is AAHPM’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting registered certifying board’s MOC credit. Learner data will be shared with ACCME and the applicable certifying board. By completing the evaluation component to obtain CME/MOC points, you give AAHPM permission to share your data with ACCME and the relevant certifying board(s) where applicable..

Physicians claiming MOC points for their participation in the 2024 Annual Assembly must attest to meaningful activity participation and completion/submission of (1) Session-Level and (2) Overall Annual Assembly Evaluations within the time period designated for the MOC points to count toward any MOC requirements that are due by the end of 2024.

Evaluation period closes for claiming CME credits and MOC points on July 1, 2024, at 11:59PM PT. There will be a $50.00 charge for re-opening evaluation access for late submissions through December 31, 2024.

This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to apply for 85 AAFP Category 1 CME credits. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1. Note AAFP Prescribed Credits are available for the in-person and live-streamed sessions only.

Conference organizers plan to apply for ABPLM management and clinical hour credits towards certification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine once program content and agenda is finalized and ABPLM CME application is reviewed. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined.

NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME and AAFP prescribed credit. PAs may claim an anticipated maximum of 85* AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for successful completion.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Successful conference completion awards the RN 85 credit hours* (60 minutes per credit hour) in blended activity format. Attendees must attend the sessions in their entirety, attest to attendance at the time of evaluation, and complete/submit the online evaluations within the time frames designated. 

NCPD certificates will delineate Category 1 Designated Pharmacotherapeutic Credit Hours earned in addition to NCPD hours awarded for successfully completed conference sessions.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Amedco is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Amedco maintains responsibility for this course. Social Workers completing this course receive GENERAL continuing education credits. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined.
