Hospice and Palliative Care Community Mourns the Loss of Kathy Brandt

The hospice and palliative care community lost a friend, colleague, and advocate in the passing of Kathy Brandt, author and editor of the NCP Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, 4th edition. Kathy championed hospice and palliative care for more than 30 years, working to improve timely access to quality care. She continued to educate our community by unselfishly chronicling her serious illness with regular posts on Twitter and Facebook. Kathy died at home in Charlottesville, VA, on August 4, 2019, in the care of her family and with the expert guidance of the University of Virginia Palliative Care Clinic. She is survived by her wife, Kim Acquaviva, and son, Greyson, who continue to share their stories on social media.
