New Priorities, New Voices—A Report from the 2022 Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates

Nearly 700 physicians, residents, and medical students descended on Chicago in June, eager to convene the national body of medicine, the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates (HOD). Thanks to the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), the 2022 Annual Meeting was the first time in more than two and a half years that representatives from 190+ state and specialty societies and other key stakeholders had met in person. Virtual meetings held in the interim had limited business to only the most urgent matters, so delegates had a long list of issues teed up for the HOD agenda and were ready to get back to the business of crafting policy that drives the AMA’s advocacy efforts and influences medical practice for millions of physicians.
