The Academy's Commitment to Diversity: What's Next?

In this issue, I want to continue discussing AAHPM's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)—a concept fundamental to our field and to the care of patients with serious illness and their families. Recent events of racial unrest in our society, as well as the disproportionately devastating toll COVID-19 is taking on Black and Latinx communities in America, have unfortunately demonstrated that our health system mirrors our society, and that structural racism interferes with the equitable delivery of care.
