Dr. Kimberly Acquaviva addressed the challenges and victories of LGBTQIA+ rights in health care during a webinar.
On June 8, 2023, AAHPM celebrated Kimberly Acquaviva, PhD MSW CSE FNAP, who is a tour de force in hospice and palliative medicine. A social worker teaching in the school of nursing at the University of Virginia, Dr. Acquaviva's scholarship focuses on LGBTQIA+ aging and end-of-life issues and is informed by the clinical work she's done with patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses in hospital and hospice settings. We invited her to speak on the power of pride, focusing on the challenges and victories on LGBTQIA+ rights in health care. It was a well-attended session with close to 100 participants in the virtual space.
